Hey there, Odd friends! Leah the Orange and Melissa here, and we are SO excited that August 1st has finally arrived! Not only do you get to spy some new names gracing the pages of the Some Odd Girl blog, but you will be enjoying new inspiration from the brand new (or, like us, well-loved and somewhat recycled – ha!) Some Odd Girl Design Team! We want to wish a big fat welcome to our four new Oddies; Alyce, Rachel, Anna and Åsa. These girls are SUPER wonderful and we’ve been admiring their work for awhile.
First things first though… A very sincere THANK YOU to everyone who played along with the July challenge – what AMAZING creations, people! Seriously – it was SO MUCH FUN to look through all of your entries, and see new and fun ways you used the sketch, or fun color combinations we wouldn’t have otherwise considered. Congrats to our winners (announced yesterday – CLICK HERE to see if you were one of the two lucky crafters!), and big hugs and orange puffy hearts to all of you for joining us! It is absolutely a pleasure to see you bringing our SOGgies to life, month after month!
Today, we kick off a brand new term with Some Odd Girl, and we embrace the creativity and talent we’ll all be seeing over the next eight months. Over the next 3 Days we’ll say Hi to the whole team and see their takes on this month’s challenge. Let’s check out the new challenge, and launch our August fun with a sketch…
Fun, right? Yeah, there’s LOTS you can do with this one. The Odd Girls will show you how it’s done! 🙂
Now for our Odd Girl newbie introductions! Let’s meet the four new members of our team and their beautiful takes on this month’s sketch challenge!
Alyce Keegan – Blog: Kit and Clowder
“Hi everyone! My name is Alyce and I am so excited to be joining Some Odd Girl as a design team member!I am so honored to be creating with such a talented and creative team 🙂
I have a real passion for crafting and am always spending my spare time making something. For my day job I am a full time interior designer, but I have found that crafting is a great avenue to explore my creativity. My background in design has always had me experimenting with different techniques and concepts, and one thing led to another and I found copic markers and card making – my two loves!
My partner and I have no children, though we do have a little fluffball that gets all of our love and attention – and gets spoilt rotten! hehe I live in Australia, and my work can be seen at kitandclowder.blogspot.com. Feel free to stop by and leave a little love!”
Now, don’t freak out, friends, but check out Alyce’s coloring chops!!!
TO DIE FOR…look at this AMAZING creation using Rainbow Fairy 😀
We know you’re going to be picking that jaw up off the floor time and time again
when you see this girl’s stuff. We’re so excited to see her rock the SOGgies!
“I’m a 36 year “young” girl, living in Sweden with my three lovely kids and “husband”. I’ve been crafting since summer 2008 and it´s quickly become the biggest passion of mine! I mainly makes cards, because of my love for coloring motifs, but I do make some layouts occasionally. It´s an honor to get the opportunity to be a part of this amazing team for a second time. And to get the chance to color and create with Kristys wonderful SOG-images.”
Åsa created this beautiful soft and sweet creation using Kimono Kaylee
Åsa is a returning Odd Girl – she joined us for a term and wowed us with each
new project, and we are THRILLED to have her back for the next eight months!
Anna – Blog: Scrappalicious!
“My name is Anna Sigga and I am a 35 year young stamp/scrapbook/card-making addict! 😀 I live in Reykjavik Iceland along with my handsome man and our two little girls. My first crafty love was card-making & stamps, and for the last year and a half I have been dipping my toes into the world of Copics. It is safe to say that I am now a bit of a Copic-coloring-addict, I am just learning but I see a large Copic collection in my near future! ;D I am an English teacher by day and card-maker/scrapbooker by night! The Some Odd Girl stamps are one of the cutest stamp and I am honored to be a part of this amazing team!”

Anna has a fun and inventive style that will keep you ALL (and us, too!) wondering

Rachel Parys – Blog: Knee Deep in Paper
“My name is Rachel Parys, and I have been stamping/card making for about a year and a half now, I love it! I have been lucky to be a SAHM for my two daughters, who are 7 & 14. I have a great husband who smiles and nods at my work and current purchases. (thanks babe!) I am addicted to paper pads and Copics. (there, I said it.) I love seeing people’s reactions when I give them something that I made myself, it means so much more to them, and me. I am a HUGE Some Odd Girl fan, I’m totally hooked! I am excited to share and learn about fun techniques we can all use for cards, or any other projects we can think of!”
Check out this wonderfully beautiful creation from Rachel using the pretty in pink Sweet Thinking Mae
Rachel has been playing along all over our blog and in our Facebook group, and we have
oohed and aahed her work the whole time, so when she applied to be an Odd Girl, we
