Happy happy Friday, everybody! You know what day it is, right?! 🙂
Yep. Leah the Orange here, and I am TOTALLY happy to be announcing our 20 Odd Idol contestants who will compete in the next round! The competition was AMAZING and we had a total of 68 entries (nobody squeaked their projects in during the final couple of hours – I was shocked!). Our judges deliberated for several hours before submitting their lists, and from them, we compiled the 20 submissions that received the most votes.
Let’s recap… We had a sketch. Competitors had to work with the sketch and use Some Odd Girl stamps/images/sentiments plus anything else they wanted on their projects. They uploaded their photos to the gallery at Some Odd World and tagged them for the event. We OOOOHed and AHHHHed for a couple of weeks while it was all going down, and the Odd Girls scratched their heads scrutinizing and agonizing to determine their favorites. When I tell you it wasn’t easy, I’m understating it! We shared our lists, and from there, the magic number took shape.
So we have TWENTY fantabulatious crafters who will be in the running for Round Two, and they are competing for this unbelievable grand prize…
I still can’t get over what an AMAZING prize pack this is. Big thanks goes to American Crafts, Copic Marker, Spectrum Noir, SP & Co., Paper Issues andOozak for being a part of this event! ONE winner takes it all. Yep. ALL OF IT. And may the ODDEST crafter win!
So. Are you ready? In no particular order, here are the 20 projects that were selected by our Design Team:
Annnnnnnnnd there they are, folks! CONGRATULATIONS to these 20 ladies who will be moving on – Round Two begins RIGHT NOW! But there are some things I need to mention before you get started…
1 – You must use Some Odd Girl stamps as the MAIN FOCUS of your creations. If you use stamps from any other companies, they must have a minimal impact on your final project. Judges will use discretion when reviewing submissions (so the sooner you submit, the better, in case our judges ask you to make any changes).
2 – Your Round 2 projects will be EMAILED to Faye, our Ning Coordinator no later than May 8th at midnight EST. (Check your Ning messages for the information and please read carefully!) Be aware of any time differences!
3 – Absolutely no watermarks will be allowed for the rest of the competition.
4 – You will not post your projects ANYWHERE in order that all submissions may be judged blindly. In other words, you cannot in any way indicate that the project is YOURS by way of sneak peeks (anything on your blogs, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, galleries, etc.) or comments around the web. Please do not email your friends and tip them off; chances are that friend knows someone who knows someone who knows someone, and as the grand prize is very valuable, we hope you’ll respect this rule. This truly is not a popularity contest.
5 – As mentioned, this competition will be judged BLINDLY. Invite people to vote and advertise the competition, but do not indicate which project belongs to you. Everyone can vote ONCE between May 10th and May 15th and voting takes place in the Ning. In order to access the Ning, voters must be registered members.
6 – You may post your projects anywhere you like once voting has closed and no sooner.
7 – Make your entry count! Try something different, pay attention to detail, consider things that might set your project apart from the others, take great photos with neutral backgrounds. Only 15 people will advance to Round 3.
8 – Failure to comply with any of the items 1 through 7 will result in disqualification from Odd Idol, whether or not voting is shown in your favor.
WHEW! I don’t remember the last time I had to be so serious! 🙂 Well now that the tough stuff is out of the way, I’ll bet our 20 crafters are anxious to see what the theme is for Round 2! We’re making this one easy on you…
Create ANY KIND OF CRAFTING PROJECT with a FRIENDSHIP theme!
(Easy peasy, right?)
And that, dear friends, is your exciting Friday post! Have a wonderful weekend, and Odd Idol contestants, GOOD LUCK! Go get your Odd on! 🙂
