Melissa here today and I’m going to share another super easy way to create a custom cell phone case! These are great little gift ideas and they’re fabulous for switching your theme up to match the occasion or your mood!
I was fortunate to find iPhone cases to fit series 4 and 5 at Hobby Lobby and they were cheap. I’m sure you can find clear cases elsewhere too. The supply list is small and includes a Some Odd Girl digi stamp, patterned paper, pencil, scissors, markers, Mod Podge, and a brush. I decided to use this paper from American Crafts and this Curly Kaylee digi stamp is just perfect for this cityscape paper.
Next step, get ready this is the hard part 😉 , take the cell phone out and trace around it on the reverse side of the paper.
Now grab your scissors and cut it out.
Don’t forget to cut out the little camera window. I just cut straight down and trimmed out the window. It’s easy to repair a straight cut.
The last thing I cut out was Curly Kaylee.
Now it’s time to apply the Mod Podge. I’m a bit of a slop with it so I placed a piece of cardboard underneath to save my desk. The reason I am using Mod Podge is to make the paper stiff and easier to fit in the case. Plus it will also be water repellent. Not that I suggest dropping your phone in water (!!!).
See, I really am sloppy! I applied 3 coats in total. You paint it on, let it dry, then do it again.
After it was completely dry, I carefully inserted it into the front of the clear case.
Ta Dah!! Isn’t it a wonderful way to express your personality and show off your craftiness? I love that my phone case will be a one of a kind, sporting a Some Odd Girl image!
I think it goes without saying that you can easily create your own scene to use. I printed out the Spring Pup digi stamp and then set the phone case over it and traced it. Next I stamped the sentiment from the Be You Stamp set. Then I cut out around my tracing, created the scene, colored, and Mod Podged. After it was dry, I had a another custom phone case. Pretty easy, right?
So there you have it! Take two on a fun little alterable, and it’s so easy! Think you might give it a try? We’d love to see what you come up with! And remember to share it in our Facebook group, tag us on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter, and add it to our linky party for the month (in the right sidebar)! You might be one of our lucky winners, AND your project is certain to be ogled by EVERYONE!
