Hello Oddies, Happy Thursday! Brianna here to share a fun tutorial with you all.
As you all know, I have a slight obsession with shaker cards, so I thought it would only be suitable if I shared with you all a Shaker Card Tutorial! For today’s card I will be using the following items from the Some Odd Girl shop… Bubbles Tia (digital stamp), Spring Bling Sequin Mix(odds & ends), Make a Statement (acrylic)
Supplies needed: Digi image/stamp, dies and/or die cutting machine, sequins, foam tape/squares, acetate and your favorite coloring medium.
Step 1: Color image.
Step 2: Run your image through your choice of die cutting machine. (I am going to be using my Ebosser and some Spellbinder dies to create my shaker. You don’t have to be restricted by what dies or machine you use, any will work. You can see by my photo the placement of my die.) If you are using a Silhouette or a Cricut, you would just draw your desired shape using computer program and cut out. You will also need to cut out a piece of acetate the same size using die.
Step 3: Now, we have to frame our image so we have a spot to put our 3D mounting tape and make it non visible. To do this, I’m just using one die smaller to go on the inside of the larger die I used to cut out my image.
Below you can see the result we get by sandwiching the smaller die inside the larger one; we now have our frame.
Step 4: Adhere your acetate to your circle frame, and now here is where the foam tape/squares and sequins come into play. You will need to trim your foam tape to fit around the edge of frame. Pour in your desired amount of sequins and line up your image we cut earlier to frame (image facing down, into sequins).
Step 5: Assemble your bits and pieces for a fun finished project! Here is my finished card using our newly made shaker.
I hope you will all get out your supplies and try this for yourselves. Such an easy thing to make and it adds such a fun, interactive element to any craft project.
Disclaimer: Once you start making these, you won’t be able to stop! 😀
