Mid-week inspiration with Violin Gwen

Mid-week inspiration with Violin Gwen

Good morning, Odd friends!  We’ve arrived at mid-week, otherwise known as HUMP DAY, and we hope the week is treating you well so far.  We’re halfway through, you know?  😉  Happy October, too.  A new month means a new LINKY PARTY!  Link all of your October creations in the sidebar!

Leah here, and I have a card to share featuring the gorgeous Violin Gwen digi stamp.

I have to say, while pleats in fabric TERRIFY me, this one came together nicely for me because I used a VERY soft palette (not my usual style!) and went lighter with my pencil strokes in case I made any mistakes.

Here’s my mid-week inspiration featuring Violin Gwen
playing a happy little love song on her instrument:

Is it possible to love rubons after hating them for so long?  Because all that pretty gold you see on my card…  RUBONS!  And the back pink panel is from the gorgeous Sunshine Sorbet paper pad – it’s so thick and sturdy and perfect for adding weight or taking center stage!

Here’s a little zoom:

The eyeshadow is super dramatic because, well, performers generally have to exaggerate the makeup for the stage, or it’s not noticeable at all.  😀  I had a little pencil mishap, too, but let’s stick to the dramatic effect instead, shall we?  There are no mistakes!

If you’re nervous about pleats – and this dress might appear challenging – don’t be!  Use light, sweepy flicks from the lower lines upward into the folds. Add depth by layering darker color along and just beyond the lower lines.  We have a ton of awesome coloring tutorials on our YouTube channel by our talented designers and The Odd Girl herself!  Come and check it out, and subscribe!

And if you haven’t had the pleasure of joining in for a Wednesday Live Color Along (WCLA), you’re missing a fun chat and some amazing techniques!  Plus they’re on WEDNESDAYS, so we’re helping you get over that mid-week hump.  CLICK HERE to visit our Ustream channel and see what you’ve missed!  Kristy colors, we ask questions and get silly, and you’re invited!  It’s a lot of fun.
