Tutorial – easy (no-sew) denim pocket bag!

Tutorial – easy (no-sew) denim pocket bag!

Hey Oddies!  Melissa here, and as some of you may know, I am a HUGE dog person, involved with rescue work and training.  I’m tired of dog treat crumbs always being in my jacket and jean pockets, and the glob you find after they accidentally go through the washing machine is nasty.  So I came up with a little clip on dog treat bag that is ‘Oddly’ adorable.

I started with a pair of old jeans and I cut out the complete pocket.  Since it’s stitched together already, there is no need for sewing – big plus for me.  You will also need a (strong) hole punch, Mod Podge, fabric ink and fabric glue.

Since it’s for dog treats I used the Preppy Pups clear stamp set and stamped them on cardstock like usual.  Once colored, I layered 2 coats of Mod Podge on the images, which makes them waterproof and more durable.  Once the Mod Podge was dry, I used fabric glue to adhere them to the denim pocket.  I made sure to get close to the edge of each stamped image when applying the fabric glue so there are no loose edges.  Beacon Fabri-Tac is marvelous for this!  The sentiment was stamped directly on the pocket using a fabric ink.

Next, I punched holes through the fabric layers on each side and threaded a piece of ribbon through them.  Then I added a binder ring.

The binder ring lets me clip it on my belt loop so I can easily grab treats to reward positive behavior.  OK, not a dog person, no worries you can make it using any ODD stamp, fill it with whatever, and clip it to your purse or tote bag.  (Tip: to make it easier to attach to your belt loop, grab a carabiner – one of those pinchy clippy things that lets you open and close easily or add charms!)

I hope you decide to create your own denim pocket bag!  If you do, be sure to share it with us on FacebookInstagram, and Pinterest.  Don’t forget the linky party on the sidebar here, too.  We love to see your creative ideas!
