Melissa here today to give you some fun ideas of what you can do with an embossing folder to create custom backgrounds for your projects. I used the same embossing folder for all 5 examples and stayed in the same color family. All of the photos are close-up shots so you can see the results better.
First up we have the folder embossed into plain paper.
Next, I added a color by inking the actual folder directly before running it through the machine.
This example uses Gelatos. I embossed first, applied color on the waves, and then used my finger to swipe a light blend.
Again, I used Gelatos. After I embossed I used a brush and water to blend the colors.
This is good ‘ol watercolor. I embossed it after it was dry.
My last example shows the use of modeling paste with some glitter sprinkled to add color. I wish you could feel the actual texture, it is really marvelous. I applied the modeling paste, put it in the folder, then ran it through the machine.
I hope I have inspired you to try something different when crafting with an embossing folder. Possibilities are limited only to your imagination (wait did someone famous say that)?
