Happy Crabby inspiration from Leah!

Happy Crabby inspiration from Leah!

Morning, Oddies!  Leah here, and I hope the week is off to a great start for you and that summer has been amazing!  Have you done a ton of crafting?  Have you discovered any new favorite techniques?

I seem to be on a texture kick lately, so when I was trying to think of a fun image to color that would allow me to play with my Prismacolor Pencils, this happy little dude came to mind…

Our Party Crab digi stamp is perfect for ANY happy occasion, so I decided a WOO HOO! sentiment would be a safe option…  Here’s my card, using a super simple template with all the focus on coloring!

And did I mention an emphasis on texture?

I’ve actually been eating a lot of crab legs lately, and have paid close attention to the different markings on the shells…  Some even have weird blues, greens, purples and yellows, but for my first attempt, I opted for a simple palette (mostly to make it easy to match my pre-selected papers!).

You don’t have to be a blend-master with coloring, and there are SO many imperfections in nature that allow for lots of wiggle room!  Place your spots and bumps and strokes on your critters, like Party Crab, however you’d like – it’s almost guaranteed to work!

And that’s it for me – a quickie happy little card to share, to hopefully inspire you to NOT always go for a smooth transition and blend, because that’s not always the way it really is!  Have a great day, Odd friends, and join us today for Tuesday Picture This in our Facebook Community where we give you random photo prompts to get to know weird or interesting things about you!

  1. Beautiful card and the coloring makes his sharp spots really look 3D. You did a wonderful job and he just makes me smile!
