Hey Oddies! Kristy here with you today, and tomorrow actually, with a bit of inspiration and a closer look at my project for our new Clear Stamp set Build a Snowman.
Have you ever had “that card”? The one that no matter what you do with it, it seems to be plotting against you. The one where nothing right goes (see what I did there?). My Snowman card was “that card”
You might look at it now and think its pretty cute (why thank you!) but besides how I masked the stamping and colored of the tree and snowman the rest is on iteration 1 million.
First it was intended to be a square card with a snowy sky… out of vellum.
Second was a layered shaker card… I went a little overboard on the foam dots.
Third it had a completely different background… good in the brain, bad in execution.
Finally I went more “basic” and played up the clear shaker and the texture.
Its a little tough to see because of the clear sleeve over the card but I used modeling paste to add texture to the snow hills as well as to raise up some snow piles on the tree. I just used a brush to apply it right out of the tube. There are some very nice snow pens but I decided to try with what I had and I think it turned out fairly well.
The big point of my rambling is even if you have “that card”, it can turn out well in the end. Even if your crafty desk now looks like a bomb hit it.
Now hop over to the shop and get your pre-order on for Santa and Build a Snowman! They are well worth the wait.
