Hi everyone, Elle joining you for a colorful fairy-tale inspired card.
I started this card by printing the Red Riding Hood digi and coloring her in with Copics. Since I wanted a happy and cheerful feeling, I went with bright and saturated colors, adding a bit of shine to her eyes with a white gel pen. I fussy-cut Red out with some sharp scissors and got to work on my background.
Normally, when I choose my background, I go with colors I used for coloring the stamp. I grabbed some red for the card base and some foam thicker letters I’d use in the sentiment. But then, I decided to go a little crazy and go in a completely different direction — letting the story itself inspire me! I used some gray (like the wolf’s mane) as a layer, then added some forest green (like the tree tops). Lastly, I added a bit of purple, since it’s getting dark and little Red has spent too long exploring off the path… For embellishments, I used a Hexie wood veneer (trees again!), as well as some enamel dots and hearts that just brought the colors together some more.
In the end, I’ve got a card that is fun and colorful, but hiding a bit of that secret inspiration.
