Hi Oddies, Elle here with a summer-inspired card.
In theory, I love spring – seeing the sunshine, feeling the weather warm up and saying hello to all the happy critters prancing through my yard. Spring signifies new beginnings, growth and joy. In practice, however, spring means long months of dreaded pollen that makes my allergies flare up so badly that I spend those few spring months feeling mainly miserable… So, I sniffle my way through spring and look forward to summer.

For my card today, I let the bright summer colors inspire me and grabbed the perfect paper and cardstock. Some creative die-cutting left me with an interesting panel that really highlights the stamp I chose to use. I paired my summery background with the beautiful Pixie digi. And just to show spring that I’ve got no hard feelings, I colored her up with soft pink tones and bright greenery. I fussy-cut her out, leaving a small white border and popped her on the card with foam squares. Add in a sticker sentiment and some enamel dots, and voila! A cute card to celebrate summer.

I colored the front edge a bold blue and ran the embossing folder in only just overlapping the inch and a half where I colored.  The Some Odd Girl Tropical Mae Digital image was then affixed right up to the colored edge.  I ran a few other blues across the embossed portion for more depth.

For the border on this card, the front was cut back an inch and a half, the inside edged with a diagonal neutral tone.  The Some Odd Girl Summer Kaylee Digital image affixed right up to the front edge.

Hello Oddies! Elle here with a card I saved with a little creative thinking and some Odd Girl magic.

Although I try to be a neat crafter, my crafting table occasionally gets crowded with WIP projects, with the million supplies I want to use and with a stray empty cup of coffee/tea. And I confess that when that creative inspiration strikes, I don’t bother tidying up first – I just want to jump into crafting! Of course, the clutter makes it easy to accidentally mess something up – such as finding a black smudge on that perfect patterned paper I really really REALLY wanted to use and only had one of…..

I didn’t want to just throw away the paper, so I decided to get creative and find a way to fix it. One of the first thoughts that popped in my head is to cover up the smudge with splatter. I found a mini splatter stamp in my stash and stamped it right over the smudge. And then the Odd magic comes in, as I remembered I had the lovely Painter Mae digi that I’ve been planning to use for ages. I colored her with Copics and fussy-cut her out with a pair of scissors. I placed her right by the splatter, and made sure to color her paintbrush tip black so it looked like the splatters were her creation.

To keep up with the theme, I also used a painted word die for my sentiment and a few scattered black enamel dots to add that extra dimension. And that’s all there was to it! The end result is a design that looks totally intentional and creative, but started as a mistake.
