Hewwo Oddies!  Tabbatha here today to share 5 Easy Cards(-ish) with 1 Cut File.  But this isn’t a separate cut file, in fact it is the cut file that accompanies the Sunny Mae clear stamp set!

Not sure what I’m talking about?  Then check this little thing out:

Sunny Mae Cutting FileMost of the clear stamps have a cut file (on the cheap!) so that you can easily cut the image out (an alternative for those who don’t enjoy fussy-cutting!).  It leaves a nice border around the stamp as well, which helps with at least one of today’s cards.  😀

1) Card 1 — Fussy-cut Clear Stamp and Matting the Clear Stamp

To get us started, we have the original purpose of the cut file – to fussy-cut our clear stamps for us!  Not only can it do that, but also if we fussy-cut the stamp (or do an offset), we can mat our stamps as well.  The larger blue outline is done by using an offset, so it will have more than just the white background if we want it to POP with some contrast or added dimension!

2) Card 2 — Cut out Card

This style of card is really all the rage right now.  I bet you didn’t think it would be so easy, right?  In order to make this card, I created 4 rectangles a bit longer than I wanted for the card.  I then used the cutting file to subtract the shape from the end of each rectangle.  🙂 To finish it off, I used the same clouds to cut out four identical shapes then dry embossed each one.  Super easy!

3) Card 3 — Cut out background

A similar take on using the subtract tool for electronic cutters, this card (and number 5) use the cloud shapes in various positions to create a fantastic background.  This technique is quite familiar to those of us who use and love the cut file backgrounds from the shop.

4) Card 4 — Masking

Keeping with the background theme, you can use these cut files to quickly cut out masks on post-it notes (just put your cutting blade down low, like for vinyl).  If you want the mask to really hug the cloud stamps, then do an internal offset too!

5) Card 5 — Stencil

This idea is something that is definitely not new on the Some Odd Girl Blog, but it still rocks.  Stencils!!  With this stencil, however, you have a bit of play, since you are the one deciding the placement for the clouds.  😉

Not too shabby, if you don’t mind me saying so myself.  5 super easy cards (and some backgrounds ready to be turned into cards), that look fabulous!  Not only that, but you have yet another way to extend the life of your stamps and if you ever needed a reason to buy those clear stamp cut files, then there ya go!

While it may be summer, there is still a lot of fun to be had with us Odd Girls! Remember to share any Some Odd Girl creations with us on Instagram and on Facebook.  Always add #SomeOddGirl to your social media so we can find you!
