Does this give you any fun ideas?

I hope to see you in the Facebook community!! 🙂

Hello everyone!!

Ellen here, showing you how you get from one idea to two cards. We all know it’s tough to make so many Christmas cards in the winter period. I don’t like to make the same card over and over again, so I came up with something fun.

First I planned to make a card with a stencil and red, orange and yellow ink. I wanted to cut out a star shape but instead of throwing this away, I thought I’d keep going and make a second card inspired by the first.

Card #1:

Annnnnnnd, Card #2!

As you can see I didn’t use only the same basic elements like the stars in the center of the card, the banners (made with Angel Gwen and Snow Bunny clear stamp sets),… I also have some differences like the bow and the sequins, stamps. Still, the second card was clearly inspired by by the first. I used the same colors for the finishing touches and used the animals (from the Hipster Pets clear stamp set) with their winter outfits.

It’s a brand new month so be sure to link your projects in the linky party (at the top right sidebar of the blog)… Maybe you’ll the next star to shine right here on the Some Odd Girl blog!

Good morning, Odd friends!

Today I (Ellen) will show you something that’s a challenge for me. I’m sharing a ‘CAS’ card I made. ‘CAS’ means ‘Clean And Simple’. For me that’s difficult because I love making scene cards with a lot of sequins; for ‘CAS’ cards you need the opposite; a lot of ‘white’ or ‘negative’ space, maybe just a few embellishments and a smooth look.

To me, it seemed the easiest to start with a one-layer card. When I masked off some parts of the card I was able to blend the background with ink. After that, I colored the stamp and stamped the word “Merci” (from the Frenchie Gwen clear stamp set). Finished it off with three rhinestones and used a pretty paper from the Sunshine Sorbet paper pad as background.

What do you think, did I succeed in my Clean and Simple mission?

We want to see ALL of your Some Odd Girl projects!  Busy and quirky, clean and simple, out of the box and off the page!  Share them HERE, in our Facebook community, and on Instagram using #SomeOddGirl, and don’t forget our linky party at the top right of this here blog!

See you tomorrow, Oddies!  Have an odd-tastic day!
