Hello Oddies, welcome to Day 1 of our Hol-ODD-Day Hop!

We Odd Girls have joined together for a fun event for EVERYONE – not just because you get to hop, but because you get to PARTICIPATE and share your own holiday creations.  So glad you’ve joined us for our 3rd annual Hol-ODD-Day Hop!

hop

We mixed things up a bit to bring you a nice variety of holiday projects that we hope will inspire you.  You can comment on all of the blogs, participate by linking your own in our Linky Party (in the right sidebar, to be eligible to win, be sure you link to us in your post), and comment throughout the event on other people’s links as well!  And there will be PRESENTS!  The hop goes from now through Friday, December 12th, and we’ll be announcing 3 winners next Wednesday, December 17th, so you have plenty of time to comment between now and then!  Our Hol-ODD-Day Hop link party will close at midnight on Friday the 12th.

Today, all of the Odd Girls have projects to share for the big event, so you can visit their blogs to see all the action happening.  Here’s the hop list for our awesome team:

****************************************************

It’s Nicole here with a fun holiday project for the whole family to join in on, or just the kids if you choose.

Last year we started the tradition of creating a Wist List mini book.  My daughter sat with all the current toy magazines and cut out the toys she wanted for Christmas.  Then we created a mini album and glued all the pictures inside the book.  She decorated the front and back of her book with crafty supplies and a little help from me.  Each member of the family can create a wish list mini book; we store all of ours in the December Daily each year.

Below are photos of the front and back covers of this year’s wish list mini book featuring Sweater Kaylee clear stamp set (colored by my 6-year-old daughter).  I also used Some Odd Girl’s Green Bamboo Twine and Hexie Dots from the Odds & Ends section.

Quick Instructions:
1– Pick out 3 12 x 12 card-stock papers.
2– Cut each paper down to 7 x 12 (you can change the size to fit your crafty needs).

  tut1
3– Fold each sheet in half.

4– Place paper 1 on your craft table.
5– Adhere side 2a to 1a.

tut2

6– Then adhere side 3a to 2b and side 3b to 1b. tut3

7– Decorate the front and back cover of your mini book
(Design side 1a is your front cover and design side 1b is your back cover).

Tip:  Have each family member color a stamped image in their wish list mini book, so you can view their color progress over the years.  This works best with children, but adults are invited, too! (Check out my daughter’s coloring progress from last year.  Hopefully next year she’ll color in the face, lol)

Hope you enjoy this holiday project.  See you tomorrow for Day 2 of the Hol-Odd-day Hop!

Good morning, Oddies!  Leah the Orange joining you today for this chilly HUMP DAAAAAAAY!  Have you completed the HOP?!  You have through SUNDAY at midnight EST to leave your comments on all of the hop stops, so there’s still plenty of time!

Today, I am very pleased to shine a little light on our Guest Odd Girl for our fourth annual Hol-ODD-Day Hop …  Lesley Croghan!  She created the cutest little gift bag that’s perfect for treats or little trinkets!  Here’s Lesley’s hop project, featuring Snowman Tobie!

Aren’t these colors perfect for winter?  Doesn’t that blue make you feel chilly just looking at it?  🙂
I love a good clean and simple design like this, giving the image its deserved attention and letting it be the focus of the project.  Here’s a close-up of the image:

Love the simple shaded effect on the snowman – not too much detail but just the right amount of depth, and this would be a fun project for classroom treat bags or for the kids in your neighborhood!

Feel free to drop by Lesley’s blog to leave her a little love if you haven’t already done that as part of the hop…  And a very big THANK YOU to Lesley Croghan for joining us!  We love having special guests, and we love this Snowman Tobie creation!  😀

Digital Release – Hol-ODD-day Hop spotlight on Library Mae!

Mary Pat here with you today, and it is Tuesday so that means a brand new digi release!  Doesn’t that make you love Tuesdays?  Well, with the Hol-Odd-Day Hop going on I thought I would use the new Digi Library Mae and make a fun gift for all those book lovers out there.  I don’t know about you but I have a TON of people on my shopping list who LOVE to read.  So I thought it might be a fun idea to give the gift of reading along with a NEW bookmark.  I always need new ones (because I am constantly misplacing them-LOL!).

declibrarymae For my bookmark I started with a plain smooth bookmark and stamped and heat embossed my sentiment using the sentiment that came with Snow Bunny.  I then got inky with some distress inks.  Next, I added some yummy pattern paper and pop dotted my lovely Library Mae.  I colored Mae with my Spectrum Noir markers.  Finally I added some longer ribbon strips so that it would stick out and so that you could find you place in the book.  Isn’t Mae just perfect for all your Readers on your shopping list?

Remember, you have through SUNDAY to hop and visit all of the lovely crafty Odd Girls (and our guests!) – CLICK HERE to go to the hop post and have fun with it!  And CLICK HERE to see the new stuff in the Some Odd Girl shop – we always have something fun up our sleeves, and it’s been an exciting few months with all the new clear and digi stamps, plus the new Odds & Ends!
