Welcome back to our SIXTH (holy cow!) and final introduction post before things really start to heat up around here! What a great way to ring in spring, dontcha think?! We are thrilled about it here, and we hope you’re even remotely as excited about the coming months as we are. There’s been a LOT going on with Some Odd Girl in the last several months, and we’ve seen lots of growth, but it doesn’t stop there! No way! We’re all about keeping it fresh and fun, so how about meeting the ladies responsible for all the behind-the-scenes stuff (and sometimes in front of the scenes, too!)?
First up, I’d like to introduce you to our Community Coordinator. She plans and schedules all the events in our Facebook community, including challenges, sneak peeks, generating excitement with conversation topics and spreading lots and lots of love to encourage and motivate our members. She’s been with us for a few terms now, too, and we know we’re lucky to have her!
Hey ya, my name is Angie and I reside in Pennsylvania. For the last 12 years, I have worked full-time as a Special Education teacher currently assigned to the 12th grade. When I grow up…I want to be a librarian! I have a husband and 5 kiddos to take care of. In all of my free time, I love to color and create with my Copic markers. I have only discovered the wonderful world of card making 3 years ago and my very first digital stamp was Some Odd Girl! I am now an addict to my favorite Oddie characters. I am looking forward to serving as your Community Coordinator and getting to know each and everyone of you!
Angie has a STRONG focus on her awesome coloring skills, so you’ll OFTEN see an image stamped directly onto the white card and embellished minimally for maximum punch! But she chose this as her favorite Some Odd Girl creation; perhaps because it’s not her usual style, but it’s one that I simply HAD to spotlight a long time ago, what with the orange, the bling, the popped up elements and the reach-out-and-touch-me feeling it gives. Go ahead, reach out and touch that computer screen!
And hello! You may not see as many of my personal CREATIONS, but you hear my “voice” on
an almost daily basis via this here blog. I suppose you could say I’m a returning Odd Girl, too.
Some Odd Girl’s Design Team Coordinator
Hey chickens! I’m Leah, a Canadian chameleon who seems to change with the seasons, a proud Assistant Bank Manager who is mom to The Son and Fletcher B Cat. I tried my hand at card making some 7 years ago, after receiving numerous handmade cards from an English penpal. I was terrible at it and knew nothing about quality products, so my cards were REALLY bad! Since then, I’ve become quite the avid hoarder, but fortunately I’m married to an artist teacher fellow who has his own hoarding issues, and mine tend to go mostly unnoticed. I am inspired by everything around me and love to try different approaches to everything for unexpected and interesting results. Kristy’s been stuck with me since Day 1 and I am proud and privileged to be along for the journey. I’ve been called the “cruise director” because I like to bring everyone together for a HUGE, AWESOME PARTY. That’s exactly what I plan to do with our Odd Girls and with all of YOU over this next term and for the terms ahead. Our girl Kristy is my bestie and I love her dearly, and I hope she knows she has my support through thick and thin, with Some Odd Girl and BEYOND!
My favorite Some Odd Girl creation? This one – because I tried something I had never seen anyone in our crafting world do before, and because I stepped outside of my comfort zone and was really happy with the result. I do that a lot, the stepping out thing. My style is NOT generally clean and simple, and I love to mix up lots of colors and patterns. This was a first!
Oh. So that brings us to Kristy.
What can I tell you about her? That she is a TRUE business woman who happens to have the mad skills to make her work at least a little fun, too? 😉 A little. That she is determined and driven, and extremely fair and conscientious? That she is a great company owner and partner in crime, and while she delegates some things, she pretty much does it ALL… But I’ll let HER tell you about herself. ;D
I’m Kristy, a 32 year old girl living in Fennville, Michigan. I have two seriously silly kiddos and a very understanding hubs who’ve I’ve been married to for 9 years now. Even though I’m a small town country girl now, I grew up in Kalamazoo, MI (yes, its a real place and yes, I’ve been asked that before lol). I moved out to the lakeshore to be with my hubs and haven’t regretted it since!
I’m the Owner/Artist/Designer of Some Odd Girl Stamps. I’ve been a crafty, artsy girl since forever and finding a career in a creative field has always been my number one dream. I worked grocery retail for 11 years before following my dream and taking the plunge to make my biz, Some Odd Girl, my full time gig. I worked my grocery job and worked on Some Odd Girl (that was like a second full time job!) for almost a year. It became very apparent that to keep up with both (not to mention kids and family) was burning me out and something had to give. Not to mention I wanted to take Some Odd Girl to the next level and that meant more commitment so I left my grocery job in Nov 2010. Since then thing have gotten bigger and better!
I was lucky to have such a supportive family who has been behind me since the get go. My hubs does all the tech work for the site, effectively turning my vague thoughts and sketches into reality. My kiddos are constant inspiration just by being them (they were the inspiration behind Tia and Tobie).
I love a life where not only I can make others happy but support my family and keep them happy at the same time! I’m so thankful that thru all the unnamed bumps in the road this is where we are headed.
My favorite Kristy creation? ALL OF THEM. She’s got the mad skillz that make me wonder what it’d be like to run around inside her head for a day. Amazing. But let me share just one…
And that, dear friends, wraps up our introductions. It has been a cram-packed couple of days, and I hope you’re as excited as we are to kick off the term! We’ve got lots of surprises in store, so ENJOY, and welcome to the new 2014-15 term for the Odd Girls!
